The population, fed up with the bickering among the politicians, is to launch a Revolution this Thursday [17 Feb 2011] … not a Red Revolution, or a colour revolution, but a Revolution in honour of the country’s national dish – pommes frites, or French Fries…

(Portuguese) Não-eleitos Eduardo dos Santos e Teodoro Obiang Dirigem CPLP e UA
Orlando Castro – Pravda, 14 Feb 2011

The Forgotten One: Bradley Manning
Lisa Karpova - Pravda, 3 Jan 2011

Throughout the decades since the Great Patriotic War, we have been shown the images of the Nuremberg Tribunal, wondering about what kind of men are soldiers who blindly follow orders, never questioning them, no matter how evil or immoral they are. The words of the prosecutors expressed this concern, as did the final verdicts. Learn from history, or you are doomed to repeat it. Smugly, the west moved on, confident the message had been delivered to everyone but themselves. A solider does not blindly follow orders.

U.S. Military Suicides Kill More Than the Battles
Alberto Tundo, PeaceReporter - Pravda, 29 Nov 2010

The number of soldiers committing suicide is higher than that of the soldiers killed in Afghanistan since 2001. The list continues to grow inexorably. It contains the names of those who returned home from the trenches of the war against terrorism, but lost control of themselves, a war that has left more dead than the U.S. mission in Afghanistan.

Brazil and Cluster Bombs: When Hypocrisy Wins Over Hope
Gustavo Barreto - Pravda, 22 Nov 2010

The United Nations is coordinating a new convention to ban cluster bombs worldwide. This is a deadly, destructive nuisance from the hands of warmongers who have created 85,000 victims in at least 18 countries – official figures say only 16,000, because there is a chronic problem of under-reporting. According to calculations of Handicap International, an NGO that defends the ban on arms and received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997, 98% of victims of cluster bombs are civilians and 27% children. All in poor countries.

The Consultancy for Human Rights (CODHES) reported that of 3.7 million displaced Colombians, at least 380,000 have managed to get shelter in 36 countries due to the armed conflict in Colombia for almost five decades. “Unfortunately, many of the displaced people in the world come from Colombia,” said the director of CODHES, Jorge Rojas, based on data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). “In the last two decades, the main flow of internally displaced persons seeking refuge beyond the borders comes from Colombia, where a long conflict persists with a serious humanitarian and human rights impact that affects neighboring countries and has implications for the entire region,” he affirmed.

Atheism [as opposed to intelligent design] Mathematically Impossible
Babu G. Ranganathan - Pravda, 25 Oct 2010

Mathematicians have said that any event with odds of 10 to the 50th power or over is impossible even within the entire time frame of the supposed billions of years popularly assigned for the age of the universe. The odds of an average protein molecule coming into existence by chance are 10 to the 65th power. That’s just one protein molecule! Even the simplest cell is composed of millions of them. Protein molecules are made of smaller molecules known as amino acids. In order for a protein molecule to work the amino acids have to be together in a precise sequence, just like the letters in a sentence. If they are not in the right sequence then the protein molecule won’t work.

(Portuguese) Sérvia: Direitos dos Homossexuais, Direitos Humanos, Tolerância e Homofobia
Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey - Pravda, 18 Oct 2010

They are not stopped and searched at checkpoints, are not brutalized by an army of occupation and are not confined in a densely populated penal colony (Gaza) where they are deprived of the basic means of subsistence. Iranian Jews live in dignity and enjoy the benefits of citizenship.

Pakistan: Where the International Community Got It Wrong
Timothy Bancroft-Hinchey – Pravda, 23 Aug 2010

The people of Pakistan have been left to rot by the international community. The scale of the flood disaster has either been wholly misunderstood or else there are forces at play which wish to take advantage of a destabilized Pakistan; the pitifully weak response by the international community moves this country and the region nearer to the abyss of chaos. This week UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon told the UN General Assembly “Make no mistake: this is a global disaster, a global challenge. It is one of the greatest tests of global solidarity in our times”.

Cluster Bombs
Anaclara Padilla Estrada – Pravda, 26 Jul 2010

Cluster bombs, which began to be used in Vietnam, affect more civilians than combatants. The conflicts in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon are the latest where they have been used. During the 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah, in the summer of 2006, more than 4 million submunitions were dropped in southern Lebanon, causing more casualties and destruction than any other weapons. The forthcoming ratification of the Convention on Cluster Munitions is a big step, not without difficulties and challenges, to eliminate a weapon that does not discriminate between civilian and military targets.

Crimes by Israel, Sanctions for Iran
Kourosh Ziabari – Pravda, 21 Jun 2010

Nobody tried to hold Tel Aviv accountable for what was an evident and undeniable massacre of defenseless civilians who were trying to break an illegal imprisonment of more than 1.5 million people who are in dire need of foodstuff, medicines, fuel, gasoline, wheelchairs, renewed infrastructure and shelter. Over the past 40 years, Israel has demolished more than 9000 Palestinian homes and is now holding some 1.5 million people in an open-air jail which no international body has so far succeeded to unlock. Israel autonomously violates international regulations, defies the calls of UN and human rights organizations and even disregards the calls of its own citizens who sympathize with the subjugated and anguished people of Palestine. UNSC ignores all of these crimes and felonies indifferently and adopts a resolution against Iran to punish the country for its civilian nuclear program, overlooking the 200 nuclear warheads which are accumulated in the arsenals of Israeli regime. That is something which even exceeds double standards. This is the inhumanity of UNSC.
