The “Afghanistan Papers”: The Criminality and Disaster of a War Based upon Lies
Bill Van Auken | WSWS – TRANSCEND Media Service, 23 Dec 2019

10 Dec 2019 – The documents published by the Washington Post constitute a damning indictment of both major parties as well as the media for lying to the world for two decades. The Post obtained the raw interviews after a three-year Freedom of Information Act court battle. The Obama administration moved to classify the documents after the newspaper sought to obtain them.

The Stubborn Persistence of the Military-Industrial State: The Pentagon Budget Still Rising, 40 Years Later
William D. Hartung | TomDispatch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 23 Dec 2019

15 Dec 2019 – It is staggering the number of tax dollars that persistently go into what passes for national security in this country, i.e., subsidizing the U.S. military-industrial complex, year in, year out, at levels that should be (but aren’t) beyond belief. In 2019, Pentagon spending is actually higher than it was at the peak of either the Korean or Vietnam wars and may soon be twice the Cold War average.

Naveed Mehmood Ahmad | Countercurrents – TRANSCEND Media Service, 16 Dec 2019

12 Dec 2019 – The crackdown on the mainstream leadership in Jammu and Kashmir and the inability of the present dispensation, to take into confidence the Abdullah’s and the Mufti’s, is deeply problematic. The Art of Doublespeak: Bellingcat and Mind Control
Edward Curtin | Behind the Curtain – TRANSCEND Media Service, 16 Dec 2019

The U.S./U.K./NATO propaganda outfit Bellingcat, like all effective war-promoting intelligence agency propaganda, needs the support of left-wing intellectuals to give it credence. The CIA recognized this in the 1950s and created multiple methods to get that support, which it has done effectively up to the present day. This left-wing support is necessary to control the thinking of the portion of the population that considers itself “educated” and in the know, who in turn pass on their compromised “knowledge” to others in a sophisticated game of mind control.”

Reflecting on Colonization This Thanks-Taking Day
Krystal Two Bulls and James Albertini | Malu 'Aina Center for Non-violent Education & Action – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Dec 2019

28 Nov 2019 – Dear relatives, as a Native American woman, today is not a day of giving thanks. Most of us who were educated in Western schools were taught that today acknowledges the “Native Americans” saving the lives of the “Pilgrims,” by teaching them how to garden and hunt. They then supposedly shared a meal together, which was the predecessor of the Thanksgiving meal most Americans share today. That is not what happened and that is not what today represents for me.

Oikonomia: Bringing the Economy Back to the Earth
Prof. Vandana Shiva | Navdanya International – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Dec 2019

Today’s Big Money is also anti nature. It is based on a paradigm of hyper anthropocentrism; of the continued assumption that nature is dead matter, and domination, conquest and control over the earth through violent tools and technologies is the “civilizing” mission of the men with Big Money. It is based on owing life though patents, privatization and enclosures of the commons, and the hubris of trying to engineer the planet through geo engineering.

Is Peace Possible?
Charles Webel | UNYP – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Dec 2019

Most of us think we know what peace is, but people often have very different definitions of this apparently simple word. And although almost everyone would agree that some form of peace—however it is defined—is desir¬able, there are often forceful, even violent, disagreements over how to obtain it. Peace is like the human project itself—a work (and a word) in progress.

Nations will go to war over fresh water and extreme water scarcity will kill hundreds of millions.

Israel’s Next Move: The Real Danger in the US Decision to Normalize Illegal Jewish Settlements
Ramzy Baroud | Politics for the People – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Dec 2019

28 Nov 2019 – The US decision to defy international law on settlements is not dangerous because it violates international law, for the latter has hardly ever been a concern for Washington. The danger actually lies in the fact that US foreign policy regarding the Israeli occupation has become a mere rubber stamp that allows Israel’s extreme right-wing government to determine single-handedly the fate of the Palestinian people and sow the seeds of instability and war in the Middle East for many years to come.

‘My Dream Was Destroyed’: Home Demolitions Soar in East Jerusalem
Judith Sudilovsky | +972 Magazine – TRANSCEND Media Service, 2 Dec 2019

25 Nov 2019 – A spike in both home demolitions and settlement building in East Jerusalem is forcing Palestinians out of their houses — and jobs. On 5 Nov Muatasem Abbasi’s home, which he shared with his parents, joined the ranks of the 155 Palestinian houses in East Jerusalem demolished so far this year. The reason: it had been built without a permit. Abbasi, whose home was built in 2011, said they had been trying to get a building permit for years.

However, in terms of pure cynicism the answer is found closer to home in Central America.

This unfolding Bolivian dictatorship, which orders its military and police to repress the indigenous-peasant people, are shooting from helicopters or tanks, torturing and murdering. In Palestine, the occupier not only seizes territories, expelling the native inhabitants, demolishing their homes and destroying their crops, but also manifests a deep hatred towards those who, in spite of continuous persecution and massacres, maintain a profile of political and above all cultural resistance.
