Asking Foolish Questions about Serious Issues
Richard Falk | Global Justice in the 21st Century – TRANSCEND Media Service, 13 Mar 2017

Serious and worrisome parallel issues are raised by recent disclosures of serious cyber attacks by the US Government on the North Korean nuclear program. The American media and government officialdom treat the conduct of cyber warfare against North Korea’s nuclear program as something to be judged exclusively by its success or failure, not whether it’s right or wrong, prudent or reckless.

Gary G. Kohls, MD | Duty to Warn – TRANSCEND Media Service, 13 Mar 2017

8 Mar 2017 – In recent days, I have been in communication with several journalists who have been writing about issues that pertain to an issue in which I have some expertise: the alleged safety and efficacy of the huge number of neurotoxin-containing vaccines that are rather cavalierly administered to babies as young as 1 day, 2 months, 4 months and 6 months, ages in which their blood-brain barriers, their immune systems and their mitochondria are at their most immature and most vulnerable to toxins.

Mad About THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense): An Untimely Decision
Mel Gurtov | PeaceVoice – TRANSCEND Media Service, 13 Mar 2017

8 Mar 2017 – The US decision, supported by the South Korean government, to deploy an antimissile system known as THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) may be one of the most thoughtless strategic moves in a generation. How U.S. Missile Defense Destabilizes the World
William Griffin | Zoom in Korea – TRANSCEND Media Service, 6 Mar 2017

23 Feb 2017 – Contrary to defense industry claims, missile defense does not make the world a safer place but rather destabilizes it, warned Dr. Jae-jung Suh and Ray McGovern during a recent online webinar. Each time the U.S. was willing to engage in discussion, North Korea responded with freezing its nuclear program and even disabled it for a time. But every time the U.S. intensified military pressure, North Korea re-ignited its nuclear program.

The Science of Knowing God
Navina Syama Dasa | Dandavats – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

Two doctrines present major obstacles to conventional science as a way to know God. The first is naturalism: all natural phenomena have natural causes. (Natural in this context means empirically observable, or perceivable through the five senses.) The second is the doctrine of falsification: if scientist A makes some claim but there is no way for scientist B to show that it is wrong, then the claim is considered unscientific. So where does that leave us, the spiritually inquisitive rationalists? Can the investigation of God through the method of Krishna Consciousness really be called scientific?

Haiti 2017: From Demonstration Election to Electoral Coup
Charlie Hinton | Haiti Action Committee – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

Haiti moves into 2017 with a “president” who would never have won an honest election. A tiny number of ruling families backed by the United States, Canada, and France, operating through a United Nations military occupation, has imposed an imperial ruler on an unwilling population through a process they call an “election.” Everyone in Haiti knows this, but outside we don’t.

Bruce Lee’s Never before Revealed Letters to Himself about Authenticity, Personal Development, and the Measure of Success
Maria Popova | Brain Pickings – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

“I have come to accept life as a process and am satisfied that in my ever-going process, I am constantly discovering, expanding, finding the cause of my ignorance, in martial art and especially in life. In short, to be real… Where some people have a self, most people have a void, because they are too busy in wasting their vital creative energy to project themselves as this or that, dedicating their lives to actualizing a concept of what they should be like rather than actualizing their potentiality as a human being.”

Lines of Descent: The Emergence of Identity – Who Was W.E.B. Du Bois?
Nicholas Lemann | New York Review of Books – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

The supposedly scientific way of thinking about race predictably went along with the idea that Negroes were genetically inferior; and
another part of this package of received wisdom a century ago was the idea that Africa had no history or culture. That helped make Europeans comfortable with colonizing Africa, as they were then doing.

Trump–Putin Could Rescue the World Taking the Advice of Alfred Nobel
Fredrik S. Heffermehl | Nobel Peace Prize Watch – TRANSCEND Media Service, 27 Feb 2017

In the will he used the term “the prize for the champions of peace,” and the correspondence with Bertha von Suttner, the great peace movement leader of the period, shows that it was her political ideas and political friends he wished to support – abolishing weapons and warriors as the tool to get an end to war. This means that almost all statesmen and generals who have received Nobel honors from the Oslo committee have been — considering the actual intention of Alfred Nobel — illegitimate winners.

The Cognitive Bias President Trump Understands Better Than You
Emily Dreyfuss | Wired – TRANSCEND Media Service, 20 Feb 2017

The aberrant occurrence is the story you’ll read and the picture you’ll see. It’s news because it’s new. The problem here is not just that this singling out creates a distorted version of what’s really happening. It’s that the human psyche is predisposed to take an aberration and conflate it with the norm. This cognitive bias itself isn’t new. But in a media environment driven by clicks, where politicians can bypass journalistic filters entirely to deliver themselves straight to citizens, it’s newly exploitable.
