4 Feb 2020 – The Self-Defeating Military – But there is a “war” that the military-industrial complex truly is winning handily, even overwhelmingly, and that’s the one for money and power within and across American society. Put differently, when it comes to winning hearts and minds, the military fails spectacularly overseas but succeeds brilliantly here in the “homeland.”

Both “sides” are comfortable with their understanding of the appropriateness of their own perspective and the dangerously misinformed inefficacy of the other — readily extended to framing what is opposed as fundamentally “evil”.

This geopolitical pattern of NPT enforcement has been mainly undertaken by the United States, but is generally supported by most of the other nuclear weapons states.

22 Jan 2020 – Despite the fact that the US is retreating from the region, lacking strategy and future vision, lawmakers in Washington are congratulating themselves on passing yet another generous aid package to Israel. In their confused thinking, a ‘secured’ Israel is the only guarantor of US dominance in the Middle East. That is a theory that has been proven false, time and time again.

These days people still move about in the physical world but live in the electronic one. The result is mass hallucination.

Human rights in the West: does the reality live up to the rhetoric? Billionaire philanthropists, political luminaries and transnational corporations, all work for social justice, forging a better, fairer and more accountable world…. Along with military invasions and missionaries, NGOs help crack countries open like ripe nuts, paving the way for exploitation and extraction. If the international community is to go beyond neocolonialist paradigms, it will need to place compassion ahead of policy, and humanity ahead of profits. Only then can the reality live up to the rhetoric.

Since the beginning, Assange has been subjected to endless procedural abuses and political interference in the legal process. Virtually every customary precept, practice and procedural protection, which an accused is traditionally afforded, has been discarded in the effort to railroad him. The disintegration of the democratic system and the rise of the national security state are hallmarks of the deepening crisis of imperialism.
