(Français) Comprendre les défis économiques du Venezuela
Michel Collon | Investig’Action – TRANSCEND Media Service,
27 Aug 2018

20 Aug 2018 – The American millenarian ‘myth’, then and now, was (and is), rooted in the fervent belief in the Manifest Destiny of the United States, ‘the New Jerusalem’, to represent humanity’s best hope for a utopian future. This belief in a special destiny has been reflected in a conviction that the United States must lead – or more properly, has the duty to coerce – mankind toward that future. Pre-Socratic values: For the Ancients, the very notion of ‘man’, in that way, did not exist. There were only men: Greeks, Romans, barbarians, Syrians, and so on. This stands in obvious opposition to universal, cosmopolitan ‘man’.

23 Aug 2018 – I examined 45 Reuters news articles about the uprising in Nicaragua since April 18, which are widely reprinted throughout English-language Western media as portrayed by corporate journalism. The story conveyed by Reuters is that the Sandinista government is opposed to democracy and human rights in Nicaragua, while the US government supports these things. But a closer look at the picture reveals numerous distortions about Nicaragua’s past and present.

Inclusive growth is now perhaps the strongest buzzword in development discourse. 7 Aug 2018 – Such important reality as is shown in this picture is virtually unpublishable in mainstream US ‘news’media, because US ‘news’media need to deceive their public about the most important international realities — such as that the US imposed upon Ukraine a nazi regime against Russia, and the US now lies to accuse Russia for doing what Russia must do in order to protect itself from the US nazi regime next-door. This is the nonfictional, historical, version of George Orwell’s fictional novel, 1984. It is happening, right now.

13 Aug 2018 – In general, nations should not act unilaterally in foreign affairs. They should instead support international law and the United Nations. But there is one thing that we can and should do on our own: We can unilaterally stop being nasty! Has anyone thought of treating North Korea with kindness? It might be a useful experiment to try.

The evidence in relation to destruction of the Earth’s biosphere, leading to ongoing and rapid degradation of all ecosystems and their services, is readily available and overwhelming. The many and varied forms of destruction are having synergistic impact. An insignificant amount of the vast evidence in relation to this destruction is sampled here. It is going to be a tough fight for human survival, particularly this late in the ‘game’.

15 August is the most cherished date in the Indian calendar. It was on this momentous day, more than seven decades back, that we were born an independent and free country. Mahatma Gandhi’s luminous leadership finally made the British quit India in 1947. It is certainly an occasion for celebration.

Any Trump tweet or football result is more important to our media and politicians. The members of the UN still give the world’s military about 340 times more than the UN for its core budget.

Education as a discipline is cosmopolitan because there is no Chinese mathematics, Russian physics, American chemistry, and Indian biology; and as self realization is manifestation of perfection already in every man and woman everywhere without any discrimination, and hence education needs to be restructured universally based on spiritual secularism for kindness, tolerance and nonviolence.

One has heard of polygamy–a man marrying more than one wife. In the Indian epic Mahabharata a woman named Dropadi has more than one husband. But I read about solygamy in a report about a woman named Linda marrying herself in Australia in front of her three friends. She had had an unhappy marriage and decided to wed herself by reciting a few marriage vows.

Love does not cling to the I in such a way as to have the Thou only for its “content,” its object; but love is between I and Thou. The man who does not know this, with his very being know this, does not know love; even though he ascribes to it the feelings he lives through, experiences, enjoys, and expresses… Love is responsibility of an I for a Thou.

Nagasaki was where the military ships were built, where many slave laborers were brought to from the occupied territories, and this is also where the second A-bomb was exploded by the US at the end of WWII.

5 Aug 2018 – The problem with Donald Trump is not that he is imbecilic and inept—it is that he has surrendered total power to the oligarchic and military elites. They get what they want. They do what they want. Although the president is a one-man wrecking crew aimed at democratic norms and institutions, although he has turned the United States into a laughingstock around the globe, our national crisis is embodied not in Trump but the corporate state’s now unfettered pillage.
